Course INFORMATION

Did you know you can teach AI to understand exactly what you mean? In this exciting course, you'll learn how to talk to AI effectively using "prompts." Prompts are instructions you give to AI tools to get helpful answers, cool stories, amazing artwork, and much more!

Through fun, hands-on activities, you'll master the art of crafting great prompts. You'll discover how small changes in your instructions can lead to big differences in what the AI creates. This skill, called prompt engineering, is becoming super important in both tech and creative industries.

Learning Outcomes

Students will start by learning what a large language model (LLM) is and how it differs from traditional search engines. They will explore the three key parts of a good prompt—role/task, context, and constraints—and practice creating clear prompts that produce precise and useful outputs. The course also covers popular prompt patterns such as summarizers, translators, brainstorm buddies, and step-by-step tutors, as well as techniques to check and evaluate AI responses for accuracy, completeness, tone, and length. Students will learn how to refine and improve their prompts based on feedback and document their changes, ultimately applying their skills to design and present a mini-project using prompts and simple, low-code tools.
